True Renaissance ?

Not too long ago I wrote in my blog about bodyparts. And the 2nd hand market that has could develop in that field. But today I learned that that business opportunity will be shortlived. Scientists have already managed to develop (grow) body parts with our cells. I already forgot the most of the scientific explanation. But in lay-man's words : cells of your bone, skin or organs (your heart e.g.) can be used to literally grow a working organ, a skinpatch or a muscle that will actually operate as the original part in your body. A young boy's finger tip (with the nail…) grew back after the it had be chopped off. It looks creapy but its real. Working muscles are being reproduced and exercised in a machine before they are put back where they belong. And because the new "element" is grown with your own DNA , the body recognises it and does not reject as often happens with transplants. Its amazing and it exists. Today. I can already imagine the rich and famous to start lining up to have a lab fabricate new versions of their vital organs. So that when the time comes they can be used to keep them going. In fact, with that technology the lab could grow a complete set of human parts for replacement. I am even imagining that with DNA of Egyptian pharaos, working copies of them could be made. So that we can actually see them move. The only challenge that remains is the brain. There was no mention of rebuilding our centrum of thought, emotion and movement yet. But for that we have computer chips. Don’t we ? Now we are only a few steps away from Jurassic Park…extint animal species to be regenerated. It's going be a whole new world. With a lot of old stuff….a true Renaissance ?
