The Twitter murder case

Our favorite social internet sites are coming of age….we are clearly not !

Today the media reported the first Twitter murder case in the US. It was in New York that one guy decided to shoot another guy after they had been insulting each other on Twitter for a few weeks. The text messages on Twitter will probably be used in court by the defense lawyer to support proof of guilt of the offender. As the messages prove the rising tension.

Many Facebook stories about people being fired by an employer, being arrested by the inland revenue services and being dumped by a lover because of information they made available on the internet have been reported already.

It’s as if we have mastered the technology but we have not grasped the magnitude of the exposure we create for ourselves. It’s huge. The internet spans the globe !

Good people…”you have the right to remain silent but any information that you make available can be used against you “ !

Whatever information you put out there can harm you. In many different ways.

That’s what it should read on the site when you join. Just like on a packet of cigarettes that reads that smoking can kill you. We should be warned.

The internet can get to you too….as you don’t know who is stalking you out there.

George Orwell’s Big Brother is watching you. And his sister, aunt, cousin, granny…….
