Corruption level at international standards....

Finally...and it makes me hopeful. Some of the crooks who were defrauding the ministry of education's budget are being taken to see the judge today. Today's paper is also full of stories about the maize scandal. And it looks to me that those who thought that when the KACC closed the dossier they had gotten off the hook will have to face justice after all. Thanks to an investigation from PwC. It leaves the question however : what did the KACC overlook ? Or was there political influencing ? Did the investigation come too close to the real powerhouses ? Anyway. KPC's 40 thiefs ( I think there are more...) are also very visible in the press now. Good. I also note with delight that on the ICC side, things are progressing also. The media reports that as many as 6 could be tried with time. So 2010 is a year of hope. As a local investor and business man it makes me hopeful. Maybe with time the plague of corruption, undue influencing and plain stealing from the public coffers will come to a halt. Or at least be brought to "international standards", as one has to be realistic and agree that it will be impossible to do completely away with such behavior. Its in human nature to be tempted and to bite in the forbidden apple....it started in the garden of Eden ! But this garden might become a smaller patch....
