I realized there was something I was missing. And then I realized. The Haiti news. Global media has dropped the ball. Only on CNN did I get a report this morning. I gather that they had pulled so many resources to Port-au-Prince that the return on investment was higher to achieve than for other media channels. Oh yes, and then there was my Belgian newspaper on the net mentioning that a 28year old man had been pulled alive from under the rubble after all that time. Breaking news is like fog. It clears after a relative short time. And gets replaced with other breaking news. But some will remember. The ones that suffered the tragedy. As we swiftly move on with focusing on other "important" (...) matters. Maybe its not worth it. To get exited over all those problems worldwide. I read somewhere that international news , the way it is brought to us (negative 99% of the time) adds to our daily stress in a way that we underestimate. It affects us more than we want to admit. Even harms our health because of self inflicted stress. As we can register the event but not do anything about it....So maybe, in order to stay healthier, I should just focus on what happens around me ? Switch off the TV. And be exited about the new neighbors that moved in last weekend. Get to know them. Invite them over and socialize. Maybe I learn something new from them.....
